What You Should Know About Baby Boy Shoes

As your baby grows from infant to toddler, he will be changing in many ways.  Designs and types of clothes that were fine during his first months will transition into different styles as he begins to stand and crawl.  The same goes for baby’s first shoes.  The type of baby boy shoes you bought your son as a newborn will not necessarily be the best kind for him by the time he is six months old and beginning to stand or even crawl on his own.  Therefore, it is a good idea to learn about the different types of baby shoes that are available for when your son grows older.

Baby boy’s shoes come in a wide selection of styles, designs, types, colors and sizes to fit all baby boys and suit the taste of most all parents.  There are many differing opinions as to what kind of shoe is best for each stage of your baby’s first year of life. Some people believe that baby should only wear shoes with soft soles for the first year or until he starts to walk.  Others believe a baby should wear soft-soled footwear until he begins to stand and then upgrade to a more hard-soled model to prevent slipping and sliding and to prepare him for walking.  Still others prefer not to put shoes on their babies at all for the first year, keeping them in socks or baby booties to protect their feet from cold weather or getting dirty as they learn to crawl and stand. As a parent, this decision is in your court to make according to your own personal judgment. If you are a new parent, you could consult with friends or co-workers who have children of their own or your pediatrician for counsel and advice. Ultimately, the final decision is yours to make.

If you as a parent are not knowledgeable about buying shoes for your baby, the following are some general guidelines that may be helpful to you when shopping for your child’s footwear.  Although shoes for baby boys come in a great variety of styles and designs, not every style will suit each child the same.  Discovering which shoe style and type is best for your child may be a trial and error process at first but eventually after trying several different kinds, you will come to learn what type of shoes your baby likes the best as well as what is best for him.

The first step is choosing the appropriate size shoe for your little man. If possible it is best to have baby try on the shoes you want to buy so you can see firsthand how it fits, how easy they are to put on and take off, how the baby stands or walks in them and how well he takes to the shoes.  Besides an attractive appearance, you want to make sure your child is happy with his shoes as much as possible and walks comfortably in them. In addition, you can check to make sure the shoe allows air to flow freely inside so your son’s feet can breathe and that the material of the shoe allows for easy care and maintenance.

Most name brand shoes offer higher quality construction and durability, which is all good and well as long as the price is not too expensive, as chances are your babe will outgrow the shoe before inflicting too much wear and tear upon it.  If you plan to have more children in the future, you could invest in name brand shoes for your firstborn and then save them to use for future siblings, thus saving on extra expenses in this area further down the line.

Some common styles of baby boy shoes include moccasins, baby boy dress shoes, tennis shoes, white shoes and sandals for both inside and outside summer wear. You may find a larger selection of different name brand baby boy shoes through online retailers but a major drawback is that you will not be able to try them on your child to ensure a comfortable fit.  Baby boy black shoes are one of the most popular styles as they mix and match well with any outfit and can be used for both casual and formal wear, depending on the style.
